Eight-string Scheitholt (Hummel)

Eight-string Scheitholt (Hummel)

Electric

Ancestor to the American Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer, my Scheitholt design offers eight strings, four fretted, and four drone, over a standard dulcimer diatonic fretboard. The fretted strings are standard gauge tuned DAdd, and the drones are standard gauge also tuned DAdd. The drones can be heavier gauge with desired tunings to provide more depth in sound.

Zither pins, like the ones used on an autoharp, are used for tuning. My scheitholt can be played from the lap, like a standard dulcimer, or from the table-top. Padded feet are attached to the back for table-top play.
