Ancestor to the American Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer, my Scheitholt designs offer eight strings, four fretted, and four drone, over a standard dulcimer diatonic fretboard. The fretted strings are standard gauge tuned DAdd, and the drones are standard gauge also tuned DAdd. The drones can be heavier gauge with desired tunings to provide more depth in sound.
Zither pins, like the ones used on an autoharp, are used for tuning. My scheitholts, Design1 and Design2, can be played from the lap, like a standard dulcimer, or from the table-top. Padded feet are attached to the back for table-top play. Additional soundholes available.

Select a design then choose non-electric or electric. Also specify soundboard wood-type when placing an order: Cherry, Walnut, Western Cedar, Red Cedar, Mahogany, or Curly Maple.
